To celebrate World Tuberculosis Day, the Edo State government has urged residents of the state to take advantage of the free tuberculosis treatment program available at public health centers in the state.
Public Health Director of the Edo State Ministry of Health, Dr. Stephenson Ojeifo, during an outreach program in Benin City, said the government will continue to prioritize health needs Population.
Ojeifo said, “TB is not a death sentence and the Edo State government has come up with measures including free TB treatment at health centers in the state.
He identified the symptoms of tuberculosis as a persistent cough for more than a week, a cough containing blood and constant emaciation, adding that people with such symptoms should go to the hospital for medical treatment.
The director added that the state government will continue to enlighten and maintain awareness about the dangers of TB, symptoms, as well as preventive measures to be taken against the spread of the disease.
