June ‘Mama June’ Shannon’s ex-boyfriend Geno Doak has revealed he attempted suicide by overdosing on 90 blood pressure pills.

The 46-year-old businessman told TMZ that the 41-year-old reality star was instrumental in helping him get treatment after he attempted suicide in September.

“I was in a really dark place,” Geno said. “It was my first real attempt where it was a conscious decision saying, ‘Okay, I don’t want to be here anymore. “”

The TV personality and Geno both battled substance abuse issues and ended their tumultuous three-year relationship last August.

Although Geno’s suicide attempt happened around the time he and June separated, he claimed their breakup was not a factor.

“My suicide attempt certainly had nothing directly to do with June or anything she did to me or anything like that,” he told TMZ.

“It had been in the making for over a year. I was just an unhappy person.

Geno explained that a friend was at home the night he took the pills with a liter of Jägermeister.

After noticing the empty bottle, the friend called 911 and paramedics were able to save Geno’s life.

He was later admitted to a mental health facility and met June after her release.

“When I got out of the mental institution, June came to the house to pick up some of her things that she had left there,” he said.

“Meanwhile, we were talking about my suicide attempt and I felt like I was. She was like, ‘Well, what are you going to do?’

“I said, ‘Maybe I should go back to rehab or get some kind of help. I am not in a good situation.

“So she’s like, ‘I know this place in Greenwood (South Carolina) called The Oaks. I have someone there who can contact you if you want.

He continued, “She ended up making that connection and helping me get on here at Oaks Recovery.”

Geno explained that he was working the 12 steps and ultimately decided to cut off contact with June.

“June and my relationship are now non-existent,” he said. ‘When I came to Oaks, we’re working the 12 steps here.

“In these twelve steps, you talk about a lot of things that bother you deeply and I realized that some of the things were related to June.”

Geno told TMZ: “In my best interest and to help me with my recovery and my mental state, I have completely stopped contacting her.

“I haven’t contacted her at all since late September now.”

Meanwhile, June’s new boyfriend, Justin Stroud, was arrested last week in Boca Raton, Fla., on “drug charges” stemming from an outstanding warrant.

Stroud, 34, allegedly “eluded authorities for months” when authorities finally caught up with the couple at a Palm Beach County gas station, according to The Sun.

June’s beau – whose full name is Thomas Justin Stroud – was seen handcuffed with a host of officers surrounding his vehicle and was reportedly arrested following a warrant issued in October for failing to meet his probation officer from Alabama for drug trafficking and burglary.

Justin was reportedly taken to the county jail and listed as an “out-of-state fugitive”.

Stroud was kicked out of rehab in September after he allegedly admitted to taking the party drug GHB and then failing to meet with his probation officer.

The Sun previously reported that Justin “failed to appear for his probation meetings on October 21, 22 and 25, as the warrant for his arrest was issued on October 26.”

Last year, June admitted spending nearly $1 million on drugs during the height of her crack addiction with Geno.

While June found her own fame and a new body on Mama June: From Not to Hot, which chronicles her loss of 300 pounds via bariatric surgery and going from a size 18 to a size 4, she also sank into a devastating addiction.

“I would say the last year of our addiction, probably a good $900,000,” she said. “So much money was sent to our dope. A dealer was close to almost $80,000.

She was arrested in 2019 for possession of cocaine and was sentenced to 100 hours of community service under a plea deal, and at one point was on the road with Geno after selling her house in Georgia for $100,000 in cash.
