Man United rename treatment room in honor of Anthony Martial

Manchester United have renamed the club’s medical center at Carrington in honor of their still-injured striker Anthony Martial.

The 26-year-old has been a mainstay in the United treatment room since joining the club in September 2015.

With the Frenchman set to miss the Manchester derby on Sunday with another blow, the club decided to pay tribute to the striker.

The former Monaco star was present at the opening of the new ‘Tony Martial Treatment Center for children who are not healing too well’ in Carrington this morning.

Old Trafford chiefs even commissioned a bronze sculpture of Martial being massaged by a physio for the grand unveiling.

Also present was Phil Jones, who received a testimonial from the club after 10 years of dedicated service to medical science.

The only downside to an otherwise joyful occasion came when Martial dislocated his wrist while cutting a ceremonial ribbon with scissors.

“Of all the pots we’ve had over the years: Owen Hargreaves; Phil Jones; Paul Pogba – Tony is among the least reliable,’ club CEO Richard Arnold told Paddy Power News.

“He got so much chafing that physios nicknamed him ‘Aladdin’s lamp’.

“It is fitting that we name the club’s medical facility ‘The Tony Martial Treatment Center for children who are not healing too well’ to show our respect for the number of games he has missed due to injury” .

Martial, who has been limited to one appearance this season due to a dislocated nostril hair, said he was humbled by the club’s gesture.

“It’s a huge honor,” he said, before tripping over his own feet and rupturing his Achilles tendon.

“I would like to dedicate this achievement to all those players who wear gloves in October and never have a single patch of grass on their shorts at the full time whistle.”

“To all the fans, I hope to see you in the next pre-season. When I play like the Brazilian Ronaldo, luring you into false hope that this could be the year I finally realize my potential, before suffering my latest injury setback and missing the start of the season.
