The government plans a cancer treatment center in every 50 km radius in Ap | Vijayawada News


Vijayawada: The state government is developing an action plan to establish at least one cancer treatment and care center within every 50 kilometers. Health Minister Vidudala Rajani said the state government gives top priority to cancer research activities and is committed to strengthening the health system.
Rajani declared Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy wants to make the state cancer free and hence the government has decided to carry out cancer screening tests for the public. “Many cancer patients travel to neighboring states for treatment. We are committed to addressing this and providing advanced cancer care in our state,” Rajani said.
The government has been emphasizing the establishment of cancer care units in Vishakapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati on a war footing and the establishment of a pediatric cancer unit in Tirupati, the health minister said .
She added that the state government has included about 100 new cancer procedures in YSR. Aarogya Sri and has also spent 1,000 crore on cancer care over the past three years through the program.
Meanwhile, the health department decided to perform hepatitis B and hepatitis C screening tests for all cancer patients. GS Naveen Kumarspecial secretary for health and family welfare, said that hepatitis b in HIV positive patients is getting terrible and the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) decided to test for the hepatitis for all HIV-positive patients.
