British rockers Thunder have launched a JustGiving page to raise money to pay for the rehabilitation of singer Danny Bowes, who suffered a head injury earlier this year.
In late August, the band released a statement which read, “Two weeks ago Danny suffered an accidental head injury which required surgery. The operation went as planned, he was released from the intensive care unit and is now responding well to further treatment.
“Given the circumstances, it is with great regret that we have decided to cancel our scheduled show on November 3 at the Garage in London in order to give Danny as much time as possible to rest and recuperate.”
Now the band have launched a campaign to raise money for Bowes’ treatment and revealed more details about the singer’s condition and prognosis.
“As you may already know, Danny suffered a serious head injury in August of this year,” the band sat. “This resulted in a brain bleed which required immediate surgery. Luckily the operation was successful and he has since been recovering in hospital.
“Danny is now in urgent need of starting specialist treatment at a neuro-rehabilitation center but due to current waiting lists this is proving difficult. In light of this we are hoping to send him to a unit home where he can receive the kind of help that will give him the greatest possible chance of a full recovery.
“Obviously the costs are considerable, but given the situation we think we have to try and do everything we can to make that happen. We’re also not too proud to say we’re going to have Need help.
“To that end, we have created a JustGiving fundraising page and would like to ask you to consider making a contribution to help our friend and bandmate. No matter how small, all donations will have a positive impact.”
As of this writing, the group’s goal of £30,000 has been successfully met and subsequently doubled. The group said that once treatment is paid for, any remaining money will be donated to London Air Ambulance (opens in a new tab)a service they credit with saving the singer’s life.
